Recently my littlest has been transitioning into some leg braces and it has been bumpy road. In the process of trying to find help for him, and us, I have searched out some helpful sleep aid suggestions. I am sharing some helpful tips for anyone out there who could use a little more sleep!!!!Bedtimes aren’t just for children. ????????
For every 1 hour of sleep before midnight it is equal to 2 hours of sleep achieved after midnight. Don’t be a night owl. Try being asleep by 10 pm for a week and see if it doesn’t change your world! ???
Electronics in bed??
Blue Light Specials may have been great at Kmart but they are destructive to your sleep. According to the national sleep foundation using electronics (phone?, laptops ?, tv ? etc…) actually suppresses the body’s ability to release melatonin a naturally produced sleep aid. Try reading an actual book ?.
Bubbles ? before ?.
Taking a warm bath ? and utilizing Epsom salts helps the muscles relax. It allows muscles to absorb magnesium easily and directly. ???? Magnesium helps lower cortisol (the “stress hormone”) and causes the muscles to relax causing you to have that “sleepy” feeling! ??
Start planning for sleep ? earlier in the day.
Exercise ??♂️??♀️ is an incredible way to help your body sleep. There are so many benefits to regular exercise ??♀️⛹?♂️ but sleep ? is one of the top benefits. Exercising ??♀️??♀️ allows the body to release hormones, like cortisol (the “stress hormone”), in a healthy environment instead of when you are trying to sleep. ????
Another cup…or pot? ☕️☕️
Caffeine ?? and other stimulants are ok in moderation. If you struggle to fall asleep make sure your last cup ☕️ of caffeine filled goodness is before lunch. 5️⃣ hours after drinking a cup of coffee your body still has half of the caffeine still available for use. Cut it off early! ✂️
Is the scale ⚖️ stuck even when you are trying? ?
Sleep deprivation is a huge factor in weight loss. When we are tired our bodies crave “comfort foods” like sugars ??? and breads ??? but why? The body is seeking energy ? and those are all quick release energy boosters….but then they plummet and causing more damage to our metabolism.
What stops you from sleeping more?
Inflammation is meant to be a protective response our bodies have to injury. It is a first responder ? biologically to help fight ?? infection and bring lots of blood flow to the area so healing can increase.
Sadly, ? inflammation is happening too often on a daily basis. Whether it is arthritis (joint), cardiovascular ❤️ or even in the brain (Alzheimer’s) ?. Studies have shown that people who sleep ? 5 hours a night or sleep in abnormal sleep patterns, such as shift workers, are more likely to have higher levels ? of inflammation. Sleep allows our bodies to slow so that healing can take place, but if we don’t rest ?, we don’t have that opportunity.
Most importantly….why do we rest? ??♀️??♂️
God tells us to‼️ Amazingly science ?????? has proven God was looking out for his people over and over again. A sabbath rest is just more proof that God cares ❤️.
????When we take a Sabbath each week, we rest from stress and every day wear & tear, our bodies begin to detox. God really did create our bodies to heal….we just have to give them the opportunity to do it.????
We are all incredible creations but without proper care we fall apart. I encourage you to enjoy the Sabbath ??. It has become so restorative to our family! ????????
