Backside of Surrender

Backside of Surrender

In my last post I said, “Surrender is a choice…a decision made by us, not for us. No one can force you, against your will to surrender.” Surrender is a powerful tool when it is released into God’s hands. It aligns us perfectly to succeed at everything we are called to do. Surrender is an application in the kingdom of God. A declaration that says, I am here to do the will of My Father, no matter what that may be.

Surrender is a place of brokenness. A place where we realize we cannot do this thing called life in our own strength. We don’t have the abilities or the resources to succeed, but thankfully our Father does. In Luke 12:32 it says, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

At this point, I would love to be able to insert some “parenting book” story about my kids. How they were the ones resisting surrender and how I prayerfully led them through. Let’s be honest, I am just as guilty of throwing a fit, being defiant, moping and sulking. Even though I know that what the Father wants for me is always best, sometimes my will doesn’t want to go along. (Can I get an amen!)

Surrender can seem like a very scary and vulnerable place but truly there is nowhere safer. When I pick up my son and swing him around he has no inhibition. He doesn’t fret or worry…why? Because he trusts me. How much more can we trust our Father God!

In the world the motto is, “the harder you work, the higher you go.” But in the kingdom of God it is, “the more you surrender the higher you go.”

What are you still holding tight to?
